This tablet is formulated of 2 ingredients, Vitamin D, and Vitamin K2-MK4, working synergistically to promote bone health.

Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin that comes in a variety of forms Ergocalciferol (D2) and Cholecalciferol (D3). The debate is about which is the most potent form to humans, D3-Cholecalciferol came out on top having the highest bio-efficacy. Vitamin D can be made inside the body as well as consumed. Its greatest source is the sun, but countries like the UK do not have enough UVB exposure. Dietary sources of Vitamin D include, cod liver oils, sardines, oily fish, sunflower seeds, eggs and cheese. The role of Vitamin D is to maintain sufficient Calcium levels in the blood and bone. Adequate Vitamin D means adequate Calcium and improved teeth and bone, health, and efficient muscular contraction. Furthermore, Vitamin D has also been proven to aid cell division, the immune system and inflammatory responses.

Vitamin K has a few forms, Vitamin K2 or Menaquinone is the secondary form. Menaquinones can be long or short chained. Vitamin K can be found in foods such as, broccoli, watercress, peas, whole wheat and pork. Vitamin K promotes normal blood clotting and bone health when used in conjunction with Vitamin D.Menaquinone 4, is a short chain for, its chemical name is Menatetrenone. It’s produced via conversion of Vitamin K1 in the testes, pancreas or arterial walls. MK4 has a short half life (hour and a half) when in a biological system. Also, MK4 has been shown to reduce pain caused by disorders such as Osteoporosis.

Our Vitamin D and K2 MK4 tablets are available in a 6mm diameter tablet, which are small and very easy to swallow. Please note that this product is not suitable for vegans as it is produced from shone sheep’s wool that that has absorbed UV light.
